Supported Housing
It has long been the intention of our organisation to ensure that housing issues were also encompassed within our holistic intervention programmes. To this end we wish to be able to ensure that some of our students have safe and secure accommodation whilst pursuing vocational studies or one of our other developmental programmes.
Discussions are continuing with appropriate partner organisations interested in working with us to investigate potential to construct a supported housing development catering for 15-20 young people and located within the East End. This opportunity would be offered as part of a tenancy agreement that also included pursuit of a vocational skills programme and associated support.
Our offer will be constructed in such a way that those young people who wish to take up this opportunity will be fully supported. For us this means not only the opportunity to develop vocational skills and undertake a range of personal development and life skills programmes, it also means that the experience will also ensure that they do not come from a situation of isolation and move back to that state at the end of the programme. We will ensure that the programme enables the development of relationships and social networks that will sustain them not only through the programme but move with them as they themselves move on to independence.
